Fanmail : February 2016 "Cracking the Case"

Hey there geekonistas!

Spring has sprung here in the desert! The trees are budding, the flowers are blooming, and I am still sick as death. Apparently my bronchitis managed to segue into a "raging sinus infection" (my doctor's words, not mine) so, yay I guess? At least I don't have bronchitis anymore?

In any case, sick or not, I wanted to share this month's FanMail box with you before I fell any more behind on my subscription boxes! FanMail is a monthly subscription box "by lady geeks, for lady geeks". It contains geeky/nerdy items and accessories and is usually mailed out at the end of each month. Subscriptions can be purchased either month to month ($21.99 per box) as a 3 month prepay ($63.00 up front, which works out to $21.00 per box), 6 month prepay ($120.00 up front, $20.00 per box) or a 12 month prepay ($228.00 up front, $19.00 per box). A larger tshirt size (2xl-4xl) costs an additional $2.00 per month. These are "true" plus sizes though, not the juniors plus sizes a lot of boxes will try to pass off as plus size.

Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet: "Stronger Than Death" February 2016

Hey there geekonistas!

I have dragged myself out of the depths of recovering from probably the worst case of bronchitis I have ever experienced to bring you today's post. Appropriately enough, it is from Notoriously Morbid and is titled "Stronger than Death". Which is how I feel. Barely.

The Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet is a monthly subscription service that includes a number of mini sized loose eye shadow pigments (anywhere from 4-6)  and/or lip and other bonus products, sometimes including a guest product from another indie company, all created around a specific theme such as a movie, book, or fandom. It costs $12.90 per month including shipping. There is currently a wait list to get the subscription which you can join by emailing Notoriously Morbid, and sometimes you can catch one time "trial" subscriptions (good for that month only) on the website.

Notoriously Morbid: Tribute Trios No. 5 - sTories

Hey there geekonistas!

I'm back! Not up to 100% health yet, but I just got in something awesome (and small), that I really wanted to share with you, so I thought now would be a good time to try to get back into it!

Sometimes, I swear, the owners of Notoriously Morbid have a hotline directly into the music of my adolescence. First it was the Rob Zombie and Nine Inch Nails Tribute Trios, and now, an amazing trio dedicated to the one and only Tori Amos. When I talk about background music to my life, Tori Amos is definitely one of the top contenders. Little Earthquakes was the first album I ever listened to that I was absolutely hooked on from the beginning of the first song, and it's also one of the few that I have never seemed to grow out of. Since then I have collected almost every album and single she has produced as she continues to be a formidable force both in the music world and in my personal life.

Taking a short Break!

Hey there geekonistas!

As you may or may not have noticed, I didn't have a post up this past Thursday. I do apologize for that - I actually have a really terrible case of bronchitis and the two posts I had the photography all ready to go for were one where I had to taste things and one where I had to smell things - neither of which is very possible in my state right now.

The good news is that I am on the mend and I should be back to health fairly soon! I will hopefully be back to posting some time this week.

Anyway, I hope you are all having a spectacular Valentine's Day! Again, I apologize for the interruption, and thanks for hanging in there with me!

While you're waiting, have some gratuitous pictures of mah kitties.

Espionage Cosmetics : BOOM! Box - February 2016

Hey there geekonistas!

Uggggggh. I have been SO SICK for the past week. I'm not sure where I got it or why it torments me so, but I've had the worst case of the flu for what feels like forever. Might have something to do with the fact that I work in a germ factory full of tiny germ machines, (aka children)? Possibly. Anyway, I'm pulling myself out of the funk of illness to bring you today's post because it's really, really awesome: I got this month's BOOM Box from Espionage Cosmetics!

Fandom of the Month Club: January 2016

Hey there geekonistas!

I'm running a little late on reviews for January! I'm not sure what happened, the month just seemed to get away from me. Maybe I'm getting... too many subscriptions? *Laughs hysterically* yeah, we all know that's not possible.

The subscription box I have for you today is one of my favorites, the Fandom of the Month Club box. Fandom of the Month club is a monthly subscription box that delivers geeky themed jewelry and other accessories. The cost is $13.00 a month for a month-to-month subscription, $36.00 ($12.00 per box) if you pay for three months up front, and $66.00 ($11.00 per box) if you pay for six months up front. Shipping is extra and costs $3.50 per month within the U.S. and $9.80 per month internationally.
