Apparently summer has fried my brain, since I have completely lost track of time. I thought for sure I wasn't getting an Espionage Cosmetics BOOM! Box until next month, but here it is and I am definitely not complaining!
In case you are unfamiliar, Espionage Cosmetics is an indie company that creates cruelty free loose pigments and glitters, lip products, bath bombs, and of course their most famous product - the "Nailed It" line of geek inspired nail wraps! This box comes out bi-monthly and has a variety of prices depending on your payment plan. Paying per box is $30.00 (plus tax and shipping) every other month, while a four month subscription (two boxes) is $56.00 ($28.00 per box), a six month subscription (three boxes) is $81.00 ($27.00 per box) and a year (six boxes) is $150.00 ($25.00 per box). The boxes will include a wide variety of items from clothing and accessories to makeup, collectibles, art and more. Also included will be at least one brand new nail wrap design per box.
This month the theme is "Naturally Awesome" and it focuses on awesome things that can be found in the great outdoors. It almost makes me wish I lived somewhere that I could actually go outdoors during the summer without melting into a puddle. Anyway, let's check it out!
As usual, the box includes a three-fold information card that tells you details about each item included in the box, plus gives you recommendations on how to use the enclosed makeup items. (More on that one later!)
One of the exclusive items this month is a set of leaf shaped hair pins. The information card says to "prepare yourself for the sudden wave of nostalgia" from these pins but... I don't get it. I don't know what these are supposed to be a reference to... the package has dinosaurs on it so.. maybe The Land Before Time? I don't know, someone educate me please! In any case, these hair pins are super cute, and I thought the dew drops on them were an adorable detail.
The next exclusive is from Boonzy Arts (who also included a card with a discount code for 10% off your next order). It is a grass green soy candle in a lidded tin, in the scent "Feed Me". I thought the tin was really cute and the scent is very fresh and outdoorsy!
These coloring pencils and sheets are just too darn cute. I like that the colored pencils are double ended - perfect for bringing along on an outdoor adventure without taking up too much space. The designs on the coloring sheets (by BOOM! Box vet Sam Skyler) are also really nice, with some references to a couple of certain nature-loving shows, (He's a hero! Gonna take pollution down to zero!) and an "overgrown" version of the Espionage crest.
Next up are the BOOM! Box Debut Cosmetics! These are actually a new product for Espionage altogether: Contour and highlight powders! The box includes two highlights - one warm and one cool, plus a contour shade. Both the box's information card and the card included with the products has instructions on how to use the powders.
"Terrafirma" is the contour shade, swatched here over bare skin. It's an earthy brown color - probably too warm for me personally to contour with, but it will look nice as an eye shadow.
"Cryosphere" is the cool highlight. It's a white base with a blue sheen.
"Thermosphere" is the warm highlight. It has more of an ivory base, with a pinkish-red sheen.
And finally, we have this month's Debut Nail Wraps! There are two designs - "Turquoise" and "Pretty Poison". I really like them both and can't wait to wear them! Turquoise looks just like the stone, a pretty blue-green with black veins and specks of gold, while Pretty Poison is based on Poison Ivy and features a variety of dangerous plants and vines.
Final Thoughts: As usual, the BOOM! Box was packed full of goodies this month! I will get use out of every single one of these items and I'm very happy with the value. Espionage has actually started a new service called Nexus, that sends just the nail wrap portion on BOOM! Box's off months, but that would probably end up being too many nail wraps for me. Now if they did the same thing with just makeup......
