Innocent + Twisted Alchemy: Release the Clow Collection
Hey there geekonistas!
Squeeeee! Wow do I have something special to share! I got my first order ever from Innocent + Twisted Alchemy the other day and it contained their brand new "Release the Clow" collection based on one of my favorite anime/manga of all time: Cardcaptor Sakura! I had a ton of fun with photographing this collection alongside some of my Cardcaptor toys and merch, and I hope you enjoy it too.
Innocent + Twisted Alchemy is an indie, cruelty free brand that produces mostly loose eye shadow and blush pigments. They feature some amazing art for their collections, and this one is no exception! Although the "Release the Clow" collectible tin with "Lippie Slick" which I purchased for $32.00 seems to currently be sold out on the website, individual shadows are still available for purchase for $6.00 each (full size) or $3.00 (deluxe sample size). There is supposedly a restock coming sometime in the next couple weeks, so keep your eyes open for that! This collection contains six loose eye shadow pigments, one loose blush pigment, and one "Lippie Slick" lip product.
I've tried to not put in too many spoilers for the series, in case you haven't seen it yet... but seriously if you haven't seen it yet, GO SEE IT!

Farewell, Goblin King
Hey there geekonistas,
As I'm sure you've already heard, David Bowie passed away last night after a battle with cancer. While I personally have never been all that familiar with his music outside of some of his more popular radio hits and of course my fanatical love for the movie Labyrinth, it still feels very sad to me that the world has lost such a unique, charismatic and talented individual. The best memorial I have found so far is Neil Gaiman's self described "fan fiction" of David Bowie based illustrations by Yoshitaka Amano, which Mr. Gaiman has published on the web for free today in tribute. You can find both the story and illustrations here on Mr. Gaiman's blog.
I don't have a talent for writing or artistry that others do, but I wanted, in my own small way, to mark the passage of such an incredible person, so I thought I would share with you some of the makeup I own that has been created as a reflection of the fascinating life and career of Mr. Bowie.

Fav Fives: Fyrinnae
Hey there geekonistas!
It's a new year, and today seems like a good day to start a brand new post series, don't you think? It occurred to me that I spend a lot of time reviewing brand new products, and while that is fun (and useful) I also have a lot of great products already in my collection that I would love to share with you. Thus, Fav Fives is born. This series will explore some of my favorite brands (indie and otherwise) and talk about five of my favorite products within each brand.
Today's Fav Five is brand is Fyrinnae! Fyrinnae is a cruelty free indie company that produces some of the most gorgeous, pigmented shadows and lip colors on the market. They release new colors usually once a season, and all colors are permanent unless something untowards happens. The best place to find news on Fyrinnae is the blog on their website, since they are not active on any kind of social media that I know of.

J-List Snack Subscription Box : December 2015
Hey there geekonistas!
Okay, so first off I need to apologize for the quality of the photographs in this post. It's a gray, rainy day here in the desert so I thought I would finally actually get my light box up and running. Ahahahah. It worked, for all of ten seconds until one of the lights fell over and stopped working. Like, I had no idea they were that fragile? It seriously just took a little bump and the whole thing frazzled. I'm going to either return or replace it, but in the meantime, in order to get a post up today at all I had to use only one light. So, yes. My apologies. At least today the subscription box I am bringing you is the December J-List Snack Subscription box, so it doesn't matter too much if it's a little shadowy and not quite true to color, right? Right??
