Colourpop : Spring/Summer collection 2016

Hey there geekonistas!

As you may or may not know, I have a slight addiction to Colourpop. With their innovative formulas and constantly rotating collection of novel colors, it's kind of hard not to have one! So, obviously, when Colourpop released their new collection of colors for spring and summer this year, I just had to order some. No, not all of them. Why not? Because I enjoy regret, I guess. Also, the tagline on the collection was "Calling all Mermaids" so.. I mean, if I ignore that it means I'm not a mermaid, right?

I don't know about you, but I have a real sweet tooth. Like, dessert is my favorite meal, I eat brunch solely as an excuse to have french toast for lunch, never met an ice cream I didn't like sweet tooth. This, in fact, may be what led me to my former career as a pastry chef. So as a lover and connoisseur of all things sweet and rich, you can imagine how excited I was to receive this month's i+t alchemist subscription, based around my personal favorite sweet treat and that most glorious of foodstuffs, chocolate!

The thing I love about living in Las Vegas is the year round warm temperatures. The thing I hate is that somehow I always seem to miss spring and dive right into summer. Or maybe it's just that I wish spring here would last forever, so it always seems too short? Eh, at least I'm not getting snowed on.

Today I have the April Vanishing Cabinet from Notoriously Morbid to share with you, and this may be spoilery but I have to tell you right up front... remember how I was a bit disappointed by the colors last month? Yeah, that is totally not the case this month. The "Game of Thrones" theme pleases me immensely, both geekily and aesthetically. But, it's better to show than tell, so let's dive right in!

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good, although tiring! Travelling is fun but it's always nice to be back home again. I just miss my pets so much when I'm away!

I don't know if I've made it absolutely clear yet, but I love cats. I mean I really, really adore cats. That's probably why I have three of them, plus I've fostered many more from our local shelter.  So, when I heard on the My Pretty Zombie Facebook page that they were going to be putting out a limited edition set to benefit SNAP cats (a California based organization that rescues special needs cats) I just knew I had to be first in line for my set!

Unfortunately, because I am old and tire easily, I couldn't stay up until midnight on the launch date to grab one. Fortunately, my little 2 am soccer player, Gizmo, managed to wake me up in time to secure one! As of writing this, there are still some full sets left ($21.00 each, with all proceeds going to SNAP cats) UPDATE: The sets are sold out but the two special shadows, "Ojo de Gato" and "Bear" ($5.00 each) will be available all month long!

Look, it's not that I don't like chickens. I mean, I appreciate that they produce eggs, one of the culinary wonders of the world. I appreciate that some people like to keep them as pets, even though, if we're being truly honest here (and we are), I am a little bit afraid of them. (They peck really hard!) One thing, however, that I certainly never realized before I got my "Birds of a Feather" set from Aromaleigh Cosmetics is that chickens could be.. beautiful.
