Glamour Doll Eyes OTM: July 2016

Hey there geekonistas!

It's a double post kind of day! As promised, I'm coming at you with one of the subscriptions I received this month, in addition to today's advent calendar post! Today I have the Glamour Doll Eyes OTM subscription, so let's check it out!

First up is my Glamour Doll Eyes OTM. In case you are unfamiliar, Glamour Doll Eyes is a cruelty-free, indie company that produces loose and pressed eye shadow pigments, blushes, and lip products. The OTM service costs $11.00 per month to the U.S., $18.00 per month to Canada, and $22.00 internationally (all of these prices include shipping), and includes at least one eye shadow, plus another product. There is a different theme to the OTM each month, and any extras can be purchased on the GDE site once all of the subscriptions have been mailed out. (Be warned though, they go fast!) To get the subscription, you must email the owner to get onto the waitlist. The waitlist lasts one year and is reset in January. (Which is how I managed to snag one!)

This month the theme is mermaids! Perfect for summer, and it includes two loose eye shadow pigments, plus a brand new GDE product! As usual, all loose pigments are swatched over Geek Chic Cosmetics Power Up Primer.

First up we have the new product, which is a cream shadow stick! This color is called "Make Waves" and its a "soft lavender base with a subtle green shift and red sparkle." Mine unfortunately had to spend more than thirty seconds in my mailbox so of course it melted. I just let it sit for a while and then scooped it back into the tube - no big deal. The formula on this seems easy to work with - though it's a little thick, it doesn't set too quickly to blend.

The next color is a loose pigment called "Really a Mermaid". Unusually for a mermaid theme, this color is a "semi-matte brick red base with a subtle green shift, finished off with purple, gold, and green sparkles". I really enjoyed getting something that fit the theme without being another cool tone!

And finally we have the second loose eye shadow pigment, "Fiji Mermaid Remix". As you can probably tell from the name it is a re-do of another Glamour Doll Eyes shadow, "Fiji Mermaid". I don't have the original so I can't compare the two, but I do know this one is gorgeous! It's described as a "deep ocean green base with a golden green shift, finished off with green & red sparkles".

Final Thoughts: This is a fun box that feels like a day at the beach... am I a mermaid yet?!

So what did you think of this month's OTM? If you could be any mythological creature, what would you be? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, thanks for hanging out!
