Notoriously Morbid: October 2015 Vanishing Cabinet

Hey there geekonistas!

One thing I love about Halloween collections is watching all the various directions that different companies go in for the themes. We have horror in books, horror in movies, fun, silly movies, traditional themes, fairy tales, and, in the case of this month's Vanishing Cabinet from Notoriously Morbid, even some famous ghosts!

The Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet is a monthly subscription service that includes a number of mini sized loose eye shadow pigments (anywhere from 4-6)  and/or lip and other bonus products, sometimes including a guest product from another indie company. It costs $12.90 per month including shipping. There is currently a wait list to get the subscription which you can join by emailing Notoriously Morbid.

The theme of this month's Vanishing Cabinet is "Happy Death Day" and it features the House ghosts from Harry Potter! It includes four loose eye shadow pigments and a new product, the "Moisturizing Lip Oil". It also includes an information sheet with some blurbs about the theme, the ingredients of each product, and a coupon code for a free mini eye shadow with your next order. I can't wait to show you the goodies they came up with to fit this theme so let's get started! As usual, all loose pigments are swatched over Geek Chic Cosmetics' Power Up Primer.

The first loose pigment is called "The Grey Lady" after the House ghost of Ravenclaw. As a Ravenclaw myself, I have to say this is my favorite pigment this month but it was NOT an easy choice! Still, this is a gorgeous deep blue with tons of silver and blue sparkles.

Are you SEEING THIS?! So textured and pretty!

Next up we have the "Bloody Baron" Slytherin's House ghost. (Boooooooo!) This eye shadow is a Slytherin sage green with a sinister red streak. Definitely a cool and spooky effect.

Next up is "Nearly Headless Nick", who is of course, Gryffindor's House ghost. And, like a true Gryffindor, his colors are the house red and gold - a red base with a very strong gold sheen. This is why choosing "The Grey Lady" as my favorite pigment was so hard! I mean.. just look.

For the final pigment in this month's VC, we have "Fat Friar", Hufflepuff's House ghost. This is a pale yellow green with a silver sheen to it. I don't think I have anything like this in my current collection!

And lastly, we have "Peeves' Butterbeer" Moisturizing Lip Oil from that master of mischief, Peeves. There were four different variations of these, I believe, with different house colors in each one. I got the green and silver, Slytherin's colors. A cool thing about the bottle is that the mixture in it is supposed to stay separate, in order to give a "magical, swirling effect". The product goes on clear with no color from the swirl. It also smells really good but I personally didn't find it very hydrating or comfortable to wear on the lips.

Final Thoughts: There are some really great pigments in this collection and I am very happy with the majority of the products! The hint for Novemeber is : "Next Month's VC will scare you right out of your pants!" Yussssssssss lay that Nightmare Before Christmas goodness on me!

What did you think of this month's Vanishing Cabinet? What House do you belong to? Let me know in the comments!
