Innocent + Twisted Alchemy : i+t alchemist - March 2016

Hey there geekonistas!

Hope you all had a great Easter, if you celebrate it! My husband and I spent a nice quiet day at home - we managed to watch some of the shows we have saved on the DVR, so I think that counts as spring cleaning? Good enough in my book anyway!

Today I'm bringing you this month's i + t alchemist! i+t alchemist is the name of the monthly subscription service from Innocent + Twisted Alchemy. It is available in two sizes - sample size ($12.00 per month) or full size ($18.00 per month). Both of these prices include shipping, which is a pretty good deal! Each month's subscription is based around a particular theme and contains at least three products made just for subscribers, plus a coupon code. The subscription is currently sold out, but new spots open up on the first day of every month, or you can snag a one time trial subscription! For more details and release times I would suggest following the I+TA facebook page. My subscription is for the "sample size".

When I first opened the package, I thought the theme was Daredevil (Doesn't the artwork kind of look like it?) but upon closer inspection I think it may actually be American Horror Story instead. I haven't watched any AHS though, so I'm not entirely sure? Anyway, my confusion was soon forgotten when I started playing with these cool colors!

This month the subscription contains four loose eyeshadow pigments, three samples from other indie companies, and a code for 35% off the Innocent + Twisted Alchemy website. They really do not cheap out with these coupons! As usual, all pigments are swatched over Geek Chic Cosmetics's Power Up Primer

The first color is called "Frankenstein Complex" and it's a shimmery white. This makes a really nice highlighting shade on the eyes.

Next up we have "Dysfunctional", a grayed out blue-green. This shadow looks almost pure gray in the pot, it's not until it's applied that you can see the more subtle color.

The next color is called "Myriad of Eidola", and it's a medium rosy pink with a purple sheen to it.

And finally we have "Old Maid" my favorite color of the bunch. This is a bright reddish orange with an orange sheen and blue sparkles.

For the samples this month we have two loose shadows and a cream highlighter.

The cream highlighter is from Kiss My Sass Cosmetics and is called "Honeymoon".

The first loose eye shadow, from The Chequered Lily Apothecary, a new-to-me indie brand, is called "Snake Charmer" and its a deep forest green with gold sparkles.

And finally we have another new-to-me indie brand, Dawn Eyes Cosmetics, with a light purple with pink sheen shadow called "Sea Star".

For the look for this box I wanted to do something really spotlighting "Old Maid", which I thought was just a gorgeous and unique color. I started by priming my eye with Urban Decay's Primer Potion in Enigma. I then set that with a shadow that matched my skin tone. I then used "Frankenstein Complex to highlight just under my brow and blended "Myriad of Eidola" into the crease, softening it as I went until I brought it up to meet "Frankenstein Complex". I used a touch of "Old Maid" in the crease to soften the transition, then applied Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy to my entire lid and packed on "Old Maid" using a paddle brush. I lined my upper and lower waterline with my Hourglass gel liner, Then diffused out the lower lash line using "Dysfunctional". I used Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner in Trooper on my upper lash line, then applied some false lashes (The Sailor Mercury Style from the new Sailor Moon line of false lashes - watch for a review coming soon!) and blended my real lashes with the false ones with a coat of black mascara.

For the rest of my face, I did my brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express Brow Kit in Brunette, used my usual Tarte BB Tinted treatment as foundation, then concealed with Urban Decay's Naked Concealer. The blush is Nars' Orgasm, while I attempted to highlight my cheeks, the inner corners of my eyes and my cupid's bow with "Frankenstein Complex", but it didn't show up so well. For lipstick I used Bite Beauty's Luminous Creme Lipstick in "Musk", with Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in "Paranoid" to create an ombre effect.

Final Thoughts: I had a lot of fun with the colors in this month's subscription! Even if it's not Daredevil... *sniffle* Despite being from such a dark show, the colors really put me in mind of spring/summer which makes me happy.

What did you think of this month's i + t alchemists? Do you watch AHS? Would you recommend it to someone that gets scared easily? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for hanging out!
